Guðmundur Jónsson borgari var fyrstur til að stunda hér lyfsölu í bæ sínum en það stóð stutt yfir um 1880-1884.
Apótekið var fyrst í skúr við suðurenda læknabústaðarins þar sem seinna reis sjúkraskýli, skúrinn var rifinn 1922 og apótekið flutt í kjallara Læknabústaðarins
Helgi Helgason í Helgafelli rak apótek hér í samstarfi við héraðslækni í 32 ár frá 1942-1974, lengst af á jarðhæð hússins.

Áður höfðu starfað hér, Ari Lyngdal (1910-1986), Helgi Þorvarðarson (1906-1978) og Hjalti bróðir hans (1915-1967)
