Sandá á Auðkúluheiði nálægt Blönduvaðaflóa
1986 var Kjalvegur byggður upp í tengslum við fyrirhugaða virkjun Blöndu, inn að Kolkukvísl og Sandá. Fyrir virkjunarframkvæmdir var flugvöllur við Sandá sem fór undir miðlunarlónið. Árnar á heiðunum voru oft farartálmar fyrir ferðalanga en ekki síður fyrir fé, því var komið upp safnrétt á bökkum Sandár.
