Ástríður Sigurjónsdóttir var fædd á Rútssöðum í Svínadal, Austur-Húnavatnssýslu, 22. janúar 1925. Hún lést í Landspítalnum þann 1. febrúar 1996. Útför Ástríðar fer fram í dag 9. febr. 1996 frá Árbæjarkirkju og hefst athöfnin klukkan 13.30.

Foreldrar hennar voru Sigurjón Oddsson og Guðrún Jóhannsdóttir og eignuðust þau 13 börn, þar af komust 12 til fullorðinsára. Áður hafði Sigurjón eignast 4 börn sem öll eru látin. Af alsystkinum eru 9 á lífi.
Árið 1947 giftist Ástríður Grími Eiríkssyni, sem fæddur var í Ljótshólum, 23. apríl 1916, en hann lést 22. maí 1993. Þau hófu búskap í Ljótshólum árið sem þau giftust og bjuggu þar til haustsins 1974 er þau brugðu búi og fluttust til Reykjavíkur. Ástríður vann síðustu 13 árin á barnaheimilinu Skógarborg en Grímur var um árabil vaktmaður í Stjórnarráðinu. Þau Ástríður og Grímur eignuðust 2 börn,
1) Eirík, fæddan 20. nóvember 1947. Synir hans eru Grímur Fannar, fæddur 1. febrúar 1972, Bjarki Rafn, fæddur 4. desember 1975 og Rúnar Örn, fæddur 24. nóvember 1988.
2) Anna fæddist 24. júní 1951. Hún er gift Runólfi Þorlákssyni, fæddum 24. september 1950. Synir þeirra eru Þorlákur, fæddur 24. mars 1973 og Daði, fæddur 1. júní 1979.
