Óskar Sövik fæddist á Veblungsnes í Raumsdal í Noregi hinn 1. janúar 1904. Hann lést á Héraðshælinu á Blönduósi að morgni hins 9. júlí 2002.
Óskar ólst upp á Veblungsnes og lauk þar skyldunámi sínu. Síðustu æviárin dvaldist hann á sjúkradeild Héraðshælisins á Blönduósi.
Útför Óskars fór fram frá Blönduóskirkju 20.7.2002 og hófst athöfnin klukkan 14.
